she was in her quarters, taking care of some last minute preparations for her departure. she didn't particularity want to go to forks, but she wasn't about to defy aro. he'd been the one who saved her life. or gave her a new one, depending on how you look at it. melody had given aro her full word that she'd take care of the situation if one should arise. it had taken some convincing to allow bree to live in the first place, and now melody was off to make sure she didn't get a reason to have to dispose of the newborn. newborn vampires were always difficult to control. melody remembered nick's change very well. after all, she'd been the one to change him. and she had to make sure he didn't go and expose their secret by walking in direct sunlight, or killing anybody who they weren't supposed to kill. she had to tear his arm off a few times, but she'd always give it back eventually. she wasn't that much of a bitch.
tossing some clothing into her suitcase, she wondered if she'd have to rip bree apart at any moment. melody knew that she would in a heartbeat if she had to. that was her assignment, and she took her job very seriously. as much as she hated jane, that girl had made a good barter in order to allow bree to live. but then again, jane was the whole reason melody was being sent to forks. if she'd just killed the girl when she was told, melody could stay in her beloved volterra. with her... family? no, she wasn't quite sure what they were to her. melody didn't have a family. it didn't bother her. she had people who she socialized with on intimate levels, and that was good enough for her. she was folding up a cloak when she heard a knock on her door. "enter," she said, not looking up. she didn't particularly care who was entering her space. she'd be leaving in a few hours time anyway, but she looked up after the door opened, an her eyes caught his red ones. outfit

Nick walked around Volterra, morose and complacent. It had been ages since he'd been outside of the city to hunt. Aro, Caius, and Marcus had insisted that their food be brought to them like kings, which they thought they were as rulers of the vampire world. Nick, however, had other ideas about how he wanted to be treated and how he wished to find food. He had been a man in his time, able to take care of his own needs and those of his family. Having six brothers and sisters with two parents that were no longer able to support everyone taught him well how to support a family, though he never married. Nick never got that chance as Melody changed him before he married anyone. He remembered those nights clearly and how much pain he was in. It was a burning sensation unlike any he'd ever felt before in his former life. When he woke, he was no longer who he'd been before, but some creature of the night that everyone had feared in legends. Melody had been the one to change him. He had been her responsibility in the beginning until he learned to control himself. They had gone through their share of quarrels over the years, especially in the beginning when she tore his arms off several times to teach him, but he had always forgiven her. Always.
Returning inside, he walked the halls for a while until he reached the outside of Melody's door. He knew that she was going to be leaving in a few hours for Forks, Washington...the godforsaken place on the other side of the world where the Cullen family resided. She was on orders from Aro to keep tabs on the newborn Bree, who had caused quite a stir after she was spared from the newborn army that attacked. Though he didn't particularly want Melody to leave, he knew she could not disobey Aro and thus, had no choice. He knocked on the door and waited until he heard her voice before walking inside. She was packing, which he expected. When she looked up, he looked right into her crimson eyes. The very same ones he had woken up to over three hundred years ago. "I heard that Aro is sending you to Forks to keep watch on the newborn runt," he said, stepping a little closer to her with his hands behind his back. He knew that he would have gone with her if he were allowed, but Aro demanded he stay put. Only so many Voturri members were ever sent outside of Volterra unless a true threat existed and Melody could handle herself quite well.

melody's eyes narrowed slightly as nick spoke to her. she tore her gaze away from his and gently placed the cloak on top of her other belongings. she'd be in forks for god knows how long, and she wanted to have as many of her things as possible. nick would have been included in that, but aro had insisted she go alone. what was another twenty years of solitude anyway? if bree lived that long, that is. as soon as that girl slipped up, she'd be back on a plane headed for italy once again. it was all melody could do to keep herself from getting down on her knees and praying the girl failed. "nice to know you have ears," she said disdainfully. she didn't want to leave any more than he wanted her to. she was his sire; it was only natural for them to have a magnetism to each other, though it didn't always have to be physical. with so few amiable vampires around, it didn't really surprise melody on what their relationship had turned into, if you could call it that.
melody closed the suitcase, closing the latches and locking them into place before she once again looked into nicholas' eyes. she could still remember what they looked like when he was human. she wondered if he could. "it won't be long," she said, taking a small step toward him. "twenty years, tops. i'll be back before you know it." twenty years would seem like a long time to a human, but to a vampire, it was such a short time that it barely registered. "in that time, you'll do as i say, and do as aro says." melody placed more faith in aro than she probably should. she trusted him the most, and he had been the one to change her. she would do whatever aro told her. she reported directly to him. "if he says 'jump', you say 'how high.' you report to him now, not to me." she didn't like knowing she wouldn't have the daily interaction with nick as she usually did, but that would just be something she'd have to get over. she would find some silly mortal to occupy herself with in the meantime.

The thought of Melody leaving Volterra for such a long time was annoying to Nick on more than one level. Of the many vampires that lived there, she was one of the few that he actually enjoyed being around. The others, like Jane and Demitri, just seemed to piss him off because they were Aro's little pets, doing his bidding and not really giving a damn otherwise. His sole purpose in his afterlife had been to find ways to piss off Jane. Her powers were literally useless on him since he had a mind power of his own that he could easily turn on her. The ability to control ones' thoughts was a useful power, especially in someone who wanted to use their own power to emulate pain. He had learned to turn Jane's power on herself about a century or so back, so she steered clear of him. In finding this out, Melody had been proud of him. When she greeted him so disdainfully, he knew that she only meant well. After all, she had been the one to create him. She had chose him out of anyone else in the world she could have chosen and even though he'd never understood why exactly, he was appreciative to not have died that night. As she closed her suitcase and took a step toward him, mentioning that it wouldn't be long, he nodded. Twenty years was still a chunk of time he'd be without her there. He knew he'd have to occupy himself otherwise.
Nick knew that he would probably find new ways to piss off Jane and Demitri, hopefully at the same time. Aro liked him too much to punish him otherwise, so he'd only really receive chastising at most. Melody instructed him to do as she said, which he had no problem with. Answering to Melody had never been a problem because she never asked anything of him that she wouldn't do herself. However, answering to Aro was going to be a little more of a task, especially doing whatever he wanted. "That's not quite as fun as answering to you though," he countered, arching one of his eyebrows and smirking. He knew that he was the only person in Volterra that could get away with messing with Melody. Part of him knew that living without her for even just twenty years was going to be boring as Hell. Nick wasn't as "social" as the rest of the vampires seemed to be with humans. The age-old saying of "don't play with your food" came to mind. Taking a human life to sustain his own never really bothered him, but he just preferred to not have his food talking at him. That was the equivalent of a human sharing a conversation with a cow or chicken before it was slaughtered and handed to them on a plate. "I shall do as I'm told," he conceeded, knowing that it would make Melody happy to know he would behave himself while she was gone.

melody's eyes narrowed again at nick's comments. of course answering to aro wouldn't be as fun as answering to her. aro wouldn't give him the benefits that melody did when he'd done what she asked. she relaxed visibly when he promised he'd behave. good, she thought, knowing he'd hear her, i don't want to come home to a pile of ash. melody never had a problem with nick hearing her thoughts. sure, some of the things she'd think about would get thrown back at her every so often, but after three hundred years, she'd gotten pretty used to it. she was able to control the way her mind would wander at inappropriate times, and she was beginning to learn how to tell the difference between reality and the dreams nick turned into reality. she still wasn't sure how often he used his ability on her, and she supposed she could use hers to figure it out, but she didn't really care to know. somethings were better left to her imagination. she rarely used her ability on him. he could always tell when it was coming.
"if i hear otherwise, i won't hesitate to come home and take care of you myself." her threat was empty, and they both knew she'd never do anything to permanently hurt him, but she had to make a point. she reached up and traced her fingers along the shoulder seam of his shirt, a line she'd seen break so many times since his rebirth. "and i don't want to have to scar your pretty body any more than i already have." truth is, she never wanted to scar him in the first place, but newborns are pretty thick, and it took a lot for her to get his attention in the first year. "i'll have my phone. don't be afraid to miss me," she teased. she'd miss him more than she'd care to admit, though he probably knew that already anyway.

Nick knew he was being a smart ass, but that was just his general persona and Melody knew that. He could see her relax as he promised to behave, knowing that the knowledge that he would control himself made her feel more at ease about leaving him. Hearing his thoughts, his own conclusions were confirmed. She was relieved. Being able to hear her thoughts made some things in this life so much easier, but at the same time there were some things he wanted left to the imagination. There were things he didn't want to her, but mostly those things never came from Melody. Instead, he overheard them from other vampires like Jane or Alec. After listening to Melody's thoughts for over three hundred years, he never grew tired of them. She was the one voice he never minded listening to because her voice was his sole comfort. When she threatened him, a slight smirk crossed his lips, knowing that she would never follow through with that threat, regardless of how firm she was now. However, he allowed her to make her point and knew that he would never betray her trust or orders. As she traced her finger along his shirt, he smiled at her mentioning not scarring his body any more.
During his first year of vampire life, he had been quite a hard ass and somewhat hard-headed, making it difficult for Melody to teach him anything, but she'd gotten through eventually. Melody was the only one he'd listen to then and the only one he'd trusted. Falling in love with her, on the other hand, was something he hadn't planned on doing in the beginning. But, he was and there was no changing that after three hundred years. A smile grew across his face as she mentioned having her phone and not being afraid to miss her. Nick knew he would miss her from the moment she left Volterra until the day she returned. Stepping forward, he placed his hand on the side of her face. "What about now?" he asked, giving her a playful smirk. "Do I have to miss you right now, especially since you're so close to me?"
Leaning down, he grazed her lips lightly with his own, almost teasingly. He knew that he only wanted her. Melody had been the sole object of his affection since his rebirth into this life, not because she was his creator, but because he had truly fallen in love with her.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

melody felt his lips against hers and it was like fire. three hundred years of sexual tension all they'd done was kiss. three hundred years and melody was almost certain she'd forgotten what it felt like. but also, three hundred years of nick pushing thoughts into her mind had manipulated her into wanting things she knew she shouldn't. sure, the first couple of decades were complete accidents, but he'd learned to control himself, and she'd figured it out as well. three hundred years of thinking she could feel him everywhere would be nothing compared to what it actually would be like. but neither of them had been brave enough to do anything about it. but three hundred years of kissing, and it still felt new. in a world where everything got old, it still felt new. maybe that was why she hadn't done anything. melody had never been sure of her reasoning, but maybe twenty or so years away from nick could make her figure it out. it wasn't as if she didn't want to, because, oh, she did. there was just something holding her back.
his lips brushed oh so gently against hers it was like he'd barely done it at all, but the reaction inside her was still the same. but he was teasing her with his words, and she glowered at him. "you should miss me when we're on opposite sides of the room," she said plainly. she didn't care how far apart they were from each other, she couldn't exist in a world without him. no, not now that she knew she had him. the fifty-four years or so as a vampire prior to nick now felt like some sort of bad dream that she'd woken up from. how she felt about nick was no clever trick of the mind. marcus had seen it from the beginning, she was certain. maybe that's why they'd made her change him. melody had never really known the reason they wanted her to change him so bad. her, specifically. she knew why they wanted him changed, but something in her they trusted not to kill him, even though he smelled so delectable as a human and she was afraid she could not stop once she started. he tasted even better... the sudden memory of him making her throat burn with thirst and her stomach clench with something else altogether. melody pushed herself closer to nick, increasing the contact of their touching and feeling his lips form with hers.

Three hundred years of tension had built up between himself and Melody, yet Nick had never even tried to push beyond the boundaries of kissing her. He knew that he wanted to and that she wanted to as well. Her thoughts were much louder than any of her body language since she couldn't really control them when they were together, especially given his power of reading them. Three hundred years of sexual tension that had pushed between them caused him to only want her more. He thought back to the first few years, when he didn't know how to control his abilities of pushing thoughts into others' minds. Those years he had thought of nothing else but her, which drove those thoughts into her mind. He hadn't meant for her to see those thoughts, but once he learned to control it, he knew full well that he meant for her to. Nick knew that he wanted her and only her. Three hundred years of celibacy had finally come to it's peak as his lips touched hers, even though they'd kissed before. Yet, every sensation felt new and wild to him, like the very first time they kissed about ten years after his creation. Hearing her words, he knew that he felt that way all the time. "But I do," he teased in a low voice, knowing the truth in his words. Without her near him physically, he was somewhat lost. Even though he knew his way around literally, metaphorically she was his light in the world of darkness. Without her, there was no reason to live in this existence.
As Melody pushed herself close to him, Nick felt their physical contact escalate in a manner that it hadn't ever before. There were lines that they had never crossed and this was one of them. Yet, he didn't do anything to stop it. He wanted this as badly as she did. Wrapping his arms around her, he pulled her as close as he could manage and felt his lips form to hers. His tongue grazed her lips before claiming her mouth as his. He loved the way she felt against him, even fully clothed. Their bodies were formed to one another, like they were meant to be together. He loved how perfect it felt and how right it was meant to be. She was his other half that he had never found in his human life, but had been lucky enough to find in this one. Melody was his creator, but she was also so much more than that. Nick left her lips and kissed down to her neck. The porcelain skin there was something he often thought about. It was smooth and silky to the touch, perfect in every way.

he was kissing her and she didn't want him to stop. she wanted to turn the fantasies into a reality. when nick's lips left her own, melody tilted her head, allowing him more access. he felt so good against her, like an itch she'd been wanting to scratch for the past four hundred years. a moan resonated in her throat and her eyes rolled back as her mind left the building. what she wouldn't give to have him push her against the wall and make her forget her the past four centuries. melody wasn't sure she could survive another twenty years without knowing what he felt like, but she also wasn't sure she could survive twenty years knowing what he felt like, and not being able to have him. that being said, she'd rather not leave at all.
the moans that had formed in her throat turned into a growl as she spoke. "nick, stop. you're going to ruin it." there was definite protest in her voice, but her body was reacting in a very different way. her head tilted far back, almost painfully, and her arms had moved around him and she pulled him closer, if at all possible. had he been human, he would have been crushed in her embrace. melody didn't want to have him dangling in front of her right before she was leaving the country. going to forks, washington was already painful enough. melody didn't like the rain, she didn't like cloud cover. basically, she didn't like anything that kept her from nick. she'd been away from volterra before, but never without him. aro must trust her more than she thought to send her alone and without jane. by the end of the decade, they would have killed each other anyway. melody's hands moved down nick's back to his backside, where she used the leverage she gained to pull him closer to her. "this is... we can't do this..."

There was no way in hell that Nick wanted to stop now. He wanted to give Melody everything he had been imagining about for three hundred years and more. Every fantasy she had ever had about them together, he wanted to show her how he could make those a reality. As she moved her head to give him more access to her neck, he slid his tongue across the perfect skin there and heard her moan. Her thoughts were going in exactly the direction his were, which was nowhere across the ocean or even out of that room. Twenty years without her by his side were going to be hell, but he could let her leave without knowing how he felt, even if it killed him. More than anything, he wanted to go with her, but Aro only sent her. He thought of asking to go, but knew that they wouldn't allow him because his gift was too valuable to be sent away for twenty years. When she started to protest his advances, her body was sending a totally different message, as was her mind. They both wanted this. Right here and right now.
Feeling her pull him closer, his body instantly formed to hers through their clothing. They were two halves of one whole, never complete without the other. He felt her hands pull him closer using his backside, which was sexy enough on its own. As she protested again, he stopped her words with his mouth against hers, hot and heavy. His hips were right against hers as he pushed her back against the nearest wall and kept his lips firm against hers as his tongue danced with hers. When he broke the kiss, he looked into her eyes fiercely, yet with a gentleness that he never showed to other people. "Why not?" he asked in a low voice, knowing that his question was somewhat stupid. He knew there were a million reasons they shouldn't and couldn't sleep together, but only one real one that said they could and should. The passion building within him wasn't going to sit by any longer. Three centuries of this had pushed him to the brink and he wasn't going to back down.

for the first time since she'd met him, melody wished to god she could hear his thoughts instead of him hearing hers. she knew, either way, the thoughts they were having were incredibly dangerous. she pretty much knew what he was thinking anyway, but there were a thousand different reasons why she shouldn't be backed up against the wall and kissing him senseless. for one, she was leaving in just a few hours. hours. for twenty years. she'd never spent more than three days away from nick since they were together, and she didn't know if she'd survive. she knew the time apart would be pure torture, but it was just something she had to do. "because," she responding, her lust-filled brain not being able to come up with a better reason than that. she knew she had to regain control of the situation, but when his need was rubbing her like that, it was enough to make her want to throw caution to the wind and just tell aro to bug off.
melody lifted her hands from his stone flesh with difficulty, and placed them against his chest. it took force to push him off her, but finally she managed to get through his resistance. she didn't want to rip an arm off, or bite his lip just too hard, but it was a force she would have resorted to if nick didn't release her. she badly wanted to use her ability to just make him forget, but she couldn't do that, and she wouldn't do that to him if she could. she could manipulate free will, not erase memories. of course, she could make him want to forget, but no. she'd rather he knew what she tasted like. she'd rather him be so wrapped up in her that by the time she returned he'd drag her off to his quarters and not let her leave. but if they gave in to that want now, melody wouldn't be able to leave. she knew that, and she knew nick knew that. "i don't want to hurt you anymore than i already have to," she confessed. "if i just give in to our desires... i'll still have to leave and you'll still have to stay. that won't change. i want you to want me, nicholas. i want you to know that i want you more than i want blood to live." she'd let it all out, practically confessed what he already knew, that she loved him. but she needed him to hear it from her, not through her mind. "i want you to think of me every time you sink your teeth into the weak skin of a human. whenever you taste that hot blood running down your throat..." she trailed off, her mouth filling with venom at the thought of a fresh kill, "that's me. that soft human flesh under your fingers is me. and you're going to drink and drink until there's nothing left, and you'll still be thirsty. want to know why?" her voice became low and husky. "it's because the taste you're craving isn't blood. it's me. it's always been me, and eventually it'll drive you so mad that it consumes you. and just before you give in to the darkness, i'll return. and it will really be me."

As they were backed against the wall, Nick felt himself wanting to lose control of himself for the first time in his immortal life in a way that didn't involve a killing spree. He wanted to lose himself deep within Melody and find a different version of the man he was. For as long as he'd existed, he had done everything and anything she had ever asked of him and not once asked for anything in return. Yet, the only thing he'd ever wanted was her. Just her. And now he had her against the wall and totally alone, just like in every other fantasy either of them had ever had over the centuries they had spent together. When she finally spoke, there wasn't a real reason or rationale behind her voice and he could hear that in her thoughts as well. He wanted her even more for the thoughts running through her mind, but retained control, even if the rest of his body didn't get that memo. As her hand raised to his chest, he felt her pushing him off. He resisted, not wanting to remove himself from against her. Years upon years he had waited for a moment like this, but she was pushing him away. Her rationale made sense about giving in now, but he still didn't want to wait twenty years for that. Three hundred years was long enough.
But he listened to her words, just as he always had done. There was no one else he would listen to like this but her, not even Aro. Listening to her, he heard her confession of her feelings, which mirrored his own. Nick had never wanted someone as badly as he wanted her because of the love he felt for her. And as she continued, he could feel the venom rising in his own mouth at the thought of a kill, but even more so at the thought of her. Her words rang true as it was exactly how he felt. Nothing could sate his hunger but her and that was going to drive him mad for twenty years. So much so that he probably would end up killing Jane or someone for taunting him. The thought of that was enough to drive him insane now as she was right there in front of him. Looking at her, he glanced down to her waist before finding her eyes again. In a fraction of a second, he had her pinned against the wall. Before she could swipe at him, he caught her hands and pinned them above her head with one of his own. He was just as strong as she was now, compared to the beginning when he was a newborn and stupid. He knew her mode of operations better than anyone. "What if we don't give in...all the way?" he asked, smirking. His free hand traveled down her curves as he kept her pinned to the wall with his body. He found the top of her pants and unbuttoned them before running his fingers along her stomach briefly to tease her. Keeping his eyes locked with hers, his hand traveled south until he found what he was looking for. Without hesitation, he kissed her again.

before melody could properly assess the situation, she was pinned against the wall again, hands held above her head and his hand was going places she could only ever dream of. his words echoed in her mind. what if we don't give in...all the way? oh, god, that's what she'd been wanting. moving at their own free will, her legs inched apart, as melody tried desperately to regain control of the situation. she couldn't move her hands whatsoever. nick was much stronger than she was now, a combination of vampire strength and the strength he was just born with, and melody knew she was completely at his mercy. the best she could hope for would be to ride out the situation completely, no pun intended. she couldn't even concentrate enough to stop him. his fingers were skillfully working her toward a third death and it was hard enough keeping thoughts in order just from being a vampire. did he really have to do this to her?
melody completely surrendered to him, mind, body, and soul. she felt like time had stopped completely. they were moving so fast and she felt like she was on vibrate. she couldn't have stopped him if she wanted to. four hundred hears of pent up sexual aggression and finally, right before she was leaving, they'd decided to do something about it. his hands moved skillfully and melody broke the kiss, her head going back and slamming against the wall. she barely felt a thing, but she heard chips of marble trickling to the stone floor. her eyes glazed over from red to black, and it had nothing whatsoever to do with thirst. if this was any type of preview to the show they could be having, melody knew she would never survive forks. she had to wonder if this was what death felt like, and if it was, why she hadn't died right the first time. a throaty groan escaped her, signaling to nick that she approved of what he was doing.

Nick knew exactly what he was doing now and there wasn't anything he could do to stop it. Three hundred years of pent up sexual images and desires was too much for him to pull back down. His hands moved against her as they kissed and she broke off, slamming her head into the wall. Nick heard the crack of the marble behind her, but knew she was unphased. Her eyes were black and he heard the moan come from her throat, knowing what he was doing was pleasing her. Knowing that she was leaving in a few hours made everything worse for him, but he knew that if he tried to stop now, he would be killing himself and Melody. Twenty years seemed like a hell of a long time now that Nick thought about it. Staying away from her was going to take herculean strength and he knew that most likely he would end up in Forks from driving Aro crazy with his thoughts if he happened to come in contact with him.
Keeping her pinned against the wall, Nick gave Melody images of the things he wanted to do to her and had been wanting to do for three long centuries. Removing his hand, he pressed his hips against hers and leaned in, kissing her neck. Her skin was smooth and solid, like ivory stone. Looking into her eyes for the briefest of moments, he suddenly moved from pinning her to the wall to pinning her on the bed. He was straddled over her with her hands pinned above her head as he leaned down and kissed her passionately. Tugging on her lower lip, he released her hands, knowing that she wouldn't push him away now. His hands cradled her face for a moment as they kissed before gently tracing down her neck and over her curves. He wanted her as close as possible. Leaving her lips he found the crease of her neck and trailed kisses there. The feeling he felt was like liquid fire spreading across his hard, stone-like skin. Every part of him wanted to be with her and never let go.

the images nick was printing into her mind's eye were unlike anything she'd ever seen before. these were much more wild, uninhibited than his usual ones. stronger too. never before had he given her visions while touching her, and now they felt so real. his hand left her pants and she wanted to cry out in protest, but found herself too far gone to speak. along with his hand in reality, his body moved in the images in her mind. she was having difficulty telling the difference between the dream and reality. having a totem briefly crossed her mind, a way to tell the difference between the dream and reality, but she wasn't sure she would be able to use it even if she had one. nick had her so completely wrapped around his finger that she would have done anything willingly at this point. anything except stop. she was feeling him in places she knew he wasn't touching her. with those images, he was completely covering her. he could change anything in her mind, where they were, what was going to happen later, but nick only seemed focused on one thing: how she was feeling him. she could feel his hands on her breasts, tangled in her hair, sliding down her back, holding her hips... everywhere at once, and it was far too complicated to figure out where he really was that she just gave up completely.
suddenly she was horizontal, the soft mattress of a bed allowing her to relax comfortably, as if she needed to. was the bed really even there? melody wasn't sure. all she was sure of was his lips on her neck. she had no idea where his hands were, and her own still felt like they were being held above her head, though she knew he'd released her. testing her mobility, she brought her hands to the his head, pulling him more to her level. she leaned her head forward and her lips brushed gently against nick's earlobe. the tune that came from her lips an old irish lullaby, fused with her ability to bend the free will of others. "where dips the rocky highland, of sleuth wood in the lake..."
